We are getting married!
We would love to celebrate this with you.
Dates
Friday 19 December 2025 to Sunday 21 December 2025
(with optional check-in on Thursday 18 December)
Weekend schedule
Thursday 18 December
Optional check-in from 3PM. We are hoping that you can join us Friday at 7.30PM for the start of the celebrations. To allow for travelling outside of working hours, we’d like to offer everyone check-in on Thursday eve. This means you can travel after work on Thursday, and work remotely from the estate on Friday. We realise this is not possible for everyone, but hope that those who can will join us on Thursday eve. There is no additional accommodation charge for arriving on Thursday, and breakfast on Friday will be provided.
Friday 19 December
9AM-5PM. Remote working. We’ve provided you with some Christmas snacks, you just bring your laptop. Use your breaks to walk around the estate, grab lunch from the Powis Arms pub, and hit the sauna (see below). If you’re lucky enough to not have to work on Friday at all, there is plenty to explore in the area and we’d be happy to advise you on this.
Please note there is no Wi-Fi at the cottages, but we’ve been told there is a solid hotspot connection that should get you through emails (but maybe not Teams meetings!)
If you’re lucky enough to not have to work on Friday, we could definitely use some help with decorating and other bits and bobs.
3PM-9PM. Sauna & Plunge at the Bottom Pool. We have rented a mobile sauna which will be parked next to the Bottom Pool (see site map below). Join us for a toasty sauna and a very cold water dip (or just the sauna if you don’t fancy a cold dip).
6.30PM. Welcome and check-in. For those that haven’t joined us on Thursday – please join us for check-in by 6.30PM so we can help you find the right cottage on the estate, or in the village.
7.30PM. Christmas Sweater Social at the Garden House. Join us for the official start of the wedding weekend at the Garden House. Food and drink will be provided. Prizes to be won for the best Christmas sweater, and we’ll also announce the winner of the best boring fact competition.
Saturday 20 December
8AM-12PM. Sauna & Plunge. The mobile sauna will be back in action Saturday morning. Now with optional whisky shots after the cold plunge.
9AM-5PM. Barista coffee time. We have rented a coffee van that will be parked up outside of the Main House between 9AM and 5PM. You can pick up your favourite barista hot beverage free of charge here all day long (including during reception and up until dinner), along with some Dutch Christmas chocolates.
2PM. Ceremony at the Main House. Please be seated at 2PM for the ceremony to start at 2.15PM. Please sit wherever you like.
3PM. Reception at the Main House.
4.30PM. Dinner and speeches in the Ballroom.
7.30PM. Ceilidh dancing in the Ballroom, followed by DJ. We’re very excited for our wedding Ceilidh. If you have never done it before, don’t worry, all the steps will be explained and you’ll be an expert in no time. Flat shoes recommended.
9PM-11PM. Pizza van. Outside of the ballroom you can find a pizza van for your evening fix-up.
12AM. After Party at Norbury Hall. We need to leave the Ballroom at midnight, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Join us for the After Party at Norbury Hall for more dancing, fun and food until late.
Sunday 21 December
10.30AM-11.30AM. Time to undecorate and pack up. We’ll need some help with undecorating various rooms and cottages.
12PM. Checkout and goodbyes.

Event details

Accommodation
We have arranged accommodation for all guests that requested this. The cost of accommodation will be communicated to you in due course.
Check-in is available from Thursday 18 December 3PM. Check-out is Sunday 21 December around noon. Towels are provided.

Travel
We will update this section with more travel information closer to the time.
Taxis. The closest train station to Walcot Hall is Craven Arms. From there on it is a 15-minute taxi journey, which needs to be booked in advance. We will provide information on this closer to the time.
Trains from London. You can either travel via Crewe (from London Euston), or Newport (from London Paddington).
Car sharing. if you travel via car, we would like to ask that you take along a few passengers if possible, so that all cars travelling to the venue are filled and we can save on travel emissions.

Dress code
Please bring your best Christmas jumper for celebrations on Friday night. For the wedding itself, we would love it if you dress up smart with a small/large hint of Christmas. On the wedding day, we would like you to wear either black, blue, purple, red or gold.
If you are wearing heels, we’d strongly recommend having flats nearby – you may find the courtyard too slippery, and doing a ceilidh in heels is a sure way to make your ankles hate you.
When choosing an outfit, we would love it if you would consider the environment and opt for items that are not fast fashion, but made sustainably, or second-hand/vintage.
Remember to bring your cozzie if you’d like to join for Sauna & Plunge!

Venue
Our venue is Walcot Hall, a beautiful Georgian house in the Shropshire countryside. You can view their accommodation here. Please note that access to the venue is not step-free, and you will need to cross a courtyard to access certain rooms and facilities, which may be slippery in inclement weather. We would advise sensible footwear.
Parking is available on-site for free.

Gifts
We love living minimalist and sustainably, and already have everything we need. We will therefore not have a gift register, nor are we expecting gifts from our guests.
If you do want to gift us something, please consider a monetary contribution to our honeymoon, a charity donation to Lend With Care, or a good book to read. We only ask that you do not buy us a bottle of something.

Food and drinks
We will provide guests in our cottages with food throughout the weekend, including dinner on Friday, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Those that arrive on Thursday will also be provided for. There are no supermarkets in the vicinity, so if there is anything specific that you need please bring it with you.
If you would like different/additional food, the Powis Arms pub (at the entrance of the Walcot Hall estate) is open between 12PM and 10PM, with lunch 12-2PM and dinner 6-8 PM.
